Mentor Coach Specialization
Become the Mentor Coach Who Shapes Great Coaches

An ICF-aligned program that builds the full range of mentor coaching competency:
the skills you can demonstrate, and the judgment you can only grow.

ICF Competencies Covered

Program Pillars

Immersive Learning Experience

Every one of the six ICF Mentor Coaching Competencies is built to full-marker fidelity - nothing addressed only implicitly.

Coaching Excellence in Practice

Leave able to mentor coaches confidently toward ACC, PCC, and MCC standards - with skill certified through your cumulative portfolio, not one high-stakes test.

Holistic Development

A gap-driven design that grows what can be taught - and deliberately provokes what can only be earned through reflection.

The Journey

Four phases, one continuous thread of
practice and reflection

Weeks are allocated by what spaced practice actually requires - not divided evenly - and every phase closes with a checkpoint, not just a deadline.

1
Weeks 1–2

Foundations & Agreements

Ethical practice, agreements, process management

Establish the ethical backbone and contracting skill every mentor coaching relationship depends on - then pressure-test it live, negotiating a real agreement in breakout rounds: your own case, then a peer's contrasting case.

2
Weeks 3–7

Analyzing & Calibrating

Formative appraisal, credential-level reasoning

The program's heaviest live stretch. Learn to hear what a coaching session is really demonstrating, and build the practiced habit of naming a competency and reasoning toward a credential-level hypothesis, grounded in cited evidence - not a rating you're taught to converge on.

3
Weeks 8–11

Synthesizing Practice

Skill development, group mentor coaching

Deliver feedback that grows a coach without judging them, and lead live group mentor coaching sessions - the two most visible mentor coaching skills, practiced under real observation. Your capstone facilitator or peer-pod slot is booked during this phase.

4
Week 12 · Individually Scheduled

Integration & Reflection

Capstone demonstration & reflective discussion

A live mentor coaching demonstration - followed immediately by a reflective discussion with a facilitator or peer pod on the mentor coach you've become.

Program Logistics

Begins with a Week 0 baseline diagnostic - a short, unscored self-assessment across Know, Do, and Be - so your starting point is real, not assumed. Every cohort week runs one fixed live session, same day and time throughout, so the program sits on a single recurring slot you can plan around.

Program Differentiation

Most programs teach mentor coaching as one skillset. This one recognizes it as two.

Every competency is diagnosed and developed through the instrument that actually fits it - a scored skill bar for what's teachable, and a longitudinal reflective practice for what isn't.

Instrument A · Closed-Loop

Skills You Can Demonstrate

For competencies with a clear, teachable standard - agreements, process management, feedback delivery, group facilitation - you practice to a scored, marker-traceable bar of proficiency.

  • Checked against published ICF marker and Code of Ethics language, never a facilitator's personal opinion
  • Repeatable practice with itemized feedback, not one high-stakes test
  • Certified cumulatively across your Phase 1–3 portfolio - the capstone carries no separate skill score
Instrument B · Open-Loop

Judgment You Grow

For role-boundary and ethical judgment - where there is no single correct answer - the program provokes reflection rather than drilling a script, tracked across three touchpoints.

  • A recurring reflective log, revisited at intake, mid-program, and capstone
  • Scored for depth and evolution of your own reasoning, not for matching a benchmark
  • Because who you're becoming as a mentor coach matters as much as what you can perform
